Anthony Lorrain, Director Traditional Investments and Non-Traditional Assets Onelife and Fouad Charrite, Securitisation and Private Equity Manager OneLife give us the insight.
In today’s environment of low – or even negative – interest rates, non-traditional assets are emerging as an important strategic differentiator that insurers must now be able to offer to their customers in a controlled and secure framework which adds value for all parties.
Financial market developments, and the significant demand for regulated and/or unregulated non-traditional investments, require a whole new skill-set – OneLife has chosen to acquire this knowledge and to build its team to cater to this developing need.
According to Anthony Lorrain, Director Unquoted & Traditional Assets at OneLife:
“It is essential to be able to offer this expertise for different areas such as Private Equity, Real Estate and Securitisation. This is totally complementary to the existing well-established Investment Funds specialists we have in the Team. At OneLife, we’ve decided to develop and promote Securitisation as underlying asset of a Life Insurance Contract and we’re happy to welcome our new expert, Fouad Charrite, who has a strong experience in this area”.
Non-traditional assets are a real trend in wealth management. As a trusted partner of wealth managers, OneLife has decided to invest – voluntarily and strategically – in our abilities to provide technical support in these areas. The world of non-traditional assets is too niche not to bring experts into the field.”
According to Fouad Charrite, who has worked in the Private Equity and Securitisation sector for over 10 years with a Big 4 in Luxembourg as an external auditor, “The scope of securitisation is very broad but it could be defined as a financing tool that permits the receivables, amongst other assets, to be tradable securities via a securitisation vehicle. The financing of the assets is done by the issuance of securities”.
He also adds that he “was attracted by OneLife as both Private Equity and Securitisation are growing industries demonstrating that real opportunities exist for entrepreneurs. I’m delighted to join the OneLife team and my objective is to open up the world of non-traditional assets in the context of life-insurance via different financing and structuring tools to respond to our clients’ needs.
With more than 1,000 Securitisation vehicles in Luxembourg, we’re confident that we will satisfy our clients’ needs and that securitisation will help us be competitive in the Luxembourg life-insurance sector.”
With the high levels of investor protection in Luxembourg and the EU’s backing of the Securitisation business, OneLife can only but be encouraged in its decision to invest in non-traditional assets. OneLife will take part in the Global ABS 2018 in Barcelona (from 5-8 June 2018) highlighting our commitment to the Asset-Backed Securities world and Securitisation.
